Individual Therapy
One-on-one psychotherapy in Mississauga and online across Ontario — for anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, grief or simply wanting to understand yourself better.
Individual therapy (sometimes called psychotherapy or counselling) is a process in which you work one-on-one with a trained therapist, in a safe, caring and confidential environment, to explore your feelings, beliefs and behaviours.
Together we work through challenging or influential memories, identify the parts of your life you'd like to change, understand yourself and others more deeply, and set meaningful personal goals.
People seek therapy for many reasons: coping with major life challenges or childhood trauma, managing depression or anxiety, or simply wanting personal growth and greater self-knowledge. You might work together for five or six sessions or for several years. It depends entirely on your needs and goals.
How we work
Our therapists draw on evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, EMDR, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Narrative and Solution-Focused Therapy, IFS and somatic work. Your plan is built around you, not a template.

Questions
About individual therapy
It varies. Some clients come for 6–8 weeks to work on a specific goal. Others with more complex concerns continue for several months or longer. You decide the pace with your therapist.
