Trauma specialist (EMDR, DBR, somatic) and EFT couples therapist, offering therapy in English, Hindi and Bengali.

I approach each client as an individual, with the desire to provide comfort by approaching their concerns holistically. Together, we identify and agree upon a therapeutic process attuned to your specific needs and what you hope to achieve. I strive to create a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment, and I value the therapeutic relationship so you can move forward with ease.

I hold a Master's degree in Counselling Psychotherapy from Yorkville University, Canada, and a Master's in Organisational Psychology from Aston University, UK. I am a member of EMDR Canada and the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation.

I have extensive experience treating acute trauma (sudden grief, accidents, serious injury, sexual assault), chronic trauma (domestic violence, prolonged bullying, exposure to war), complex trauma / C-PTSD (attachment wounding, childhood trauma) and complex trauma with dissociation. I also work with OCD, BPD, relationship distress, loss and grief, anger, and individuals and caregivers facing terminal illness.

As a couples therapist, I help partners with sex and intimacy concerns, rebuilding trust, strengthening attachment, and improving communication and conflict resolution.

I am trained in EMDR, EMDR with Structural Dissociation, Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), Ego State Therapy/Parts Work, MBSR, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the Ideal Caregiver Protocol, and Emotion-Focused Therapy for Couples (Level 1). I am in the second year of training as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP).

Questions for Ambita

DBR is a trauma therapy that helps the brain process experiences that were overwhelming or shocking. It focuses on the body's very first automatic reaction to a stressful event, before emotions like fear or shame appear. With gentle guidance, you notice subtle bodily sensations, allowing the nervous system to complete a response that may have been interrupted.
