REGISTERED PSYCHOTHERAPIST (Qualifying)

Adult & Teen Therapist Mississauga

Hello,

My name is Anan Abuwarda, and I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.

My interest in psychotherapy comes from both personal experience and my academic background. Having lived in different countries and been surrounded by diverse cultures, I have developed a strong interest in understanding people within the context of their lived experiences, relationships, culture, and life circumstances. These experiences have shaped my desire to offer counselling that feels respectful, supportive, and culturally sensitive.

I support clients who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, anger, stress, life transitions, or concerns related to substance use and addiction. I understand that people often come to counselling when they feel overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward.

My approach is collaborative, client-centered, strengths-based, humanistic, and culturally sensitive. I aim to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and supported. I also draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help clients better understand their patterns, build practical coping strategies, recognize their strengths, and take manageable steps toward meaningful change.

In our work together, I hope to support you in exploring your experiences, developing greater self-awareness, and reconnecting with the strengths and resources that can help you move forward at a pace that feels right for you.
