We like to begin with a free 30-minute intake session with one of our intake therapists to determine the best course of action and the best therapist for you. Our intake therapist will help devise your goals and expectations for therapy, into a treatment plan tailored to you.
Our practice has the honour of spending our time with couples and families, victims of trauma and individual dealing with trauma, as well as individuals dealing with depression and anxiety-based issues. We offer individual and group Anger Management sessions for court mandated or Non-court mandated clients. We look forward to hearing from you.
Hello, my name is Ahmad, I am a registered psychotherapist.
I have spent several years playing elite-level sports, as well as experience in coaching, and working with, athletes of different ages. My previous professional experience also entails operations management of world-class operations. My experiences combined with my extensive training in the field allow me to view mental health challenges with the utmost humility and empathy, with the client’s safety and wellbeing at the heart of the process.
My philosophic approach is client-centered. However, to best address mental health challenges it is beneficial to draw strengths from various therapeutic approaches in a fashion tailored specifically to each individual.
I do provide psychotherapy in both English and Arabic (all dialects). My areas of expertise include, but are not limited to: anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life transitional challenges, couples & family, trauma, substance abuse, grief, and attachment.
Welcome and thank you for reading my profile. My name is Ambita Sen. I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of the Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
I work with you, the client, as individuals, couples and families to address and help deal with different pressures and stresses in your lives. My focus puts you first and builds a strong therapeutic relationship between us through respect, empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. This provides a solid ground for the therapeutic work and helps build on your strengths. We will work together, in a warm and safe environment, to reach your acceptable level of satisfaction and comfort, at a pace of your convenience.
Canada’s cultural diversity and the process of acculturation by adapting to the host culture are real. My cultural sensitivity and openness has been honed by living and experiencing the socio-cultural characteristics in several countries. My life experiences helped me to be culturally humble and understand and appreciate the stresses caused by socio-cultural differences.
My extensive experience in a multi-cultural environment helped me observe human behaviour and many of the struggles that individuals experience in dealing with life’s challenges. I helped individuals cope with anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief that impacted their ability to work, and in some cases affected their personal lives. I also assisted individuals in improving their work performance, enhancing job satisfaction, supporting career-related decisions, and dealing with workplace harassment issues. Having lead grief and bereavement support groups, I understand how different individuals deal with different stages of grief and the skills that can be helpful to manage grief.
I use interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness-based approaches. My interest and experience in expressive arts allows me to combine techniques from that area into my therapeutic approach. Other modalities that I use are Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Emotion Based Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, Gestalt, and Existentialism.
I am educated in Canada and the United Kingdom. I have a Master’s degree in Organisational Psychology and Business from Aston University, United Kingdom. I am currently working towards completing my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, Canada. My Bachelor’s degree in Psychology was completed from the University of Western Ontario, Canada.
I offer therapy in English, Hindi, and Bengali. I also understand spoken Urdu.
Welcome!
